Beer Thief and TX Drunk Driver Captured in Police Stake-out
An El Paso man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Texas while his passenger was nabbed for theft. The two had gone on a beer run to a local 7-11 store. Ruben Cazares drove Juan Manuel Medrano to the store in a Pontiac Trans-Sport van. Medrano entered the store, grabbed a 20-pack of Budweiser and got back in the van without paying for the beer.
Local police, however, were conducting a special operation at the store, targeting those on late hour beer runs. They initiated a traffic stop during which the beer was recovered and Chavero was found to be driving while intoxicated. Chavero was charged with DWI in Texas and theft under $50. Medrano was also booked for theft under $50, as well as for an outstanding traffic warrant.
